In 1887 Valentín Bianchi was born in Italy, giving birth to the history and tradition of Bodegas Bianchi. In 1910, when he was only 23 years old, his young audacity prompted him to leave the small town of Fasano and travel to Argentina, more precisely to San Rafael, in the province of Mendoza.
In 1928, after years of effort and perseverance, he managed to make one of his greatest dreams come true: to have his own vineyard and to open a winery which he called El Chiche, "the small winery of the great wines".
Don Valentín's tireless vocation was never extinguished. Willing to make the best wines in the country, he imported European grape varieties and adapted them to the climatic and orographic characteristics of the San Rafael region. Thus, little by little, he forged a family winery whose name would become a true heritage of Argentina: Bodegas Bianchi.
Don Valentín's legacy continued with his son, Don Enzo Bianchi, who was able to codify his father's first thought and established another of the winery's main pillars: the constant search for innovation and the highest quality in its wines. Intrepid and groundbreaking, he was the creator of avant-garde reds and whites that set trends in the style of the new Argentinean wines. His knowledge and intuition gave birth to Don Valentín Lacrado and Bianchi Particular, among other emblematic labels of the national viticulture.
In 1976 Bodegas Bianchi launched Bianchi Particular, originally created for Enzo Bianchi's personal cellar. In 1994 the winery introduced its "Famiglia" line to the market, and in 2014, the 2012 vintage of this wine won the gold medal for the best wine in the world at the Vinalies Internationales tournament in France, among 3500 competing wines.
Today the winery diversifies its terroirs between two very different areas in the province of Mendoza: San Rafael (with a typically clayey soil and an altitude of between 600 and 800 metres above sea level) and Valle de Uco (with a stony and calcareous soil and an altitude of 1100 metres above sea level).
Bodegas Bianchi, more than 90 years after its foundation, is today a global brand with presence in more than 40 countries, representing the values and quality of Argentine wine all over the world. A true family heritage in the Argentine wine industry.
