Tannat, finding its own terroir from Europe to South America.

Sep 24. 2020

Tannat is a variety originating from France, which has found a prominent place in South America.
In the case of Uruguay, its clay soils, added to the Atlantic breeze, offer exceptional conditions for this variety. Today, Uruguay is the main producer of Tannat, with a production volume that even exceeds that of its place of origin.
In the case of Argentina, this grape variety is generally better grown in the North-West region, where it finds a special climate and terroir in Salta, which allows it to produce incredible wines with great body.
It is always interesting to dig into the diversity of a same grape variety and how it can change depending on the region of the world in which it is grown. The Tannat is an excellent excuse to find this out.
